The River Boyne

Sometimes the most meaningful connections are forged in the most unexpected places, like the family wedding in Dublin where I first met Nick, the CEO of the immersive studio Algorithm. After bonding over some friendly banter and pints, we kept in touch, discussing everything from business to the latest Irish jokes. When Nick and his associate Daniel approached me with a unique opportunity to direct a short film celebrating the River Boyne in Ireland, I couldn’t help but think, “Why not?” We set out to create a three-minute short film projected onto a water screen on the river itself during the Christmas season, blending ancient lore, laughter, and rich Irish mythology.

Throughout the winter months, audiences gathered to experience these unique and enchanting scenes. With a touch of Irish humor, we wove tales of the enigmatic figure of Boann, the goddess of the River, and the elusive Salmon of Knowledge. The overwhelmingly positive response to our installations was proof that a bit of humor can go a long way. The dedicated team at Algorithm, my small Irish family, worked tirelessly day and night to bring this ambitious and slightly madcap project to life. As we wrapped up the project, I looked back on this incredible journey with a mix of pride and amusement, eager to collaborate with my Algorithm family again – hopefully, over a pint or two at the local pub.
