Shifumi & other shorts

Back in ’96, I started my filmmaking journey, creating nearly 30 short films, all of which were, well, awful. But, you know, I learned a ton from those disasters about writing, storyboarding, directing, teamwork, and respect. I dabbled in 2D animation, stop-motion, puppets, motion design, 3D, and live-action films, including Shifumi, a bromance about two middle-aged guys lost in the mountains. I honed my skills in Paris, learning assistant direction at ESEC and taking on various roles in the industry, from ads and movies to TV series and commercials. I even tried my hand at writing feature film scripts and TV series bibles, but I still have a passion for short films.

Over the years, I’ve worked on numerous projects, including launching Fauns and supervising CG sequences and animation videos. Now, I’m focused on creating a collection of short films about nature and mythology, a sci-fi short, a comedy TV series, and even an ambitious IMAX short with CG. Unfortunately, I lost all my data and hard drives twice in 15 years, with only Shifumi surviving. But the most important lessons I’ve learned throughout my filmmaking career are respect, dedication, and the value of preparation. I’m eager to embark on a new short film project in 2023, backed by my delightful producer Emiliana, because life’s too short not to enjoy the ride and create something memorable.
