Little S****y

I first met Rémi Guérin 🫶🏼, the Executive Producer at PGS, through his comics. I mean, who needs networking events 🛜 when you can bond over illustrated panels, right? Rémi is a fantastic writer, and I couldn’t get enough of his work. We tried to collaborate over the years, but you know how these things go – never quite worked out 🕸️

Fast forward to our reunion at the Annecy Festival in 2022 (Did I tell you already we won the VR Cristal this exact same year for Glimpse? 🏆 I probably told you, I am super proud of this team and this project), and the spark to work together was reignited. Rémi pitched me an animated TV series for 👶🏽, centered around the S****y brand, with music and cool songs.

You’d think being on a surfing trip would distract me, but this idea wouldn’t leave me alone. So, I took a break from the waves and got to work 🏄🏻

Before I knew it, I’d cranked out the prebible and concept document ✍🏼 for “Little S****y.” In just a few months, we’d assembled a team of top-notch artists such June Plä (that artist is badass) and the award-winner director Jean-Charles Mbotti Malolo (that guy almost burned a city and has the strange habit of finding dead bodies in weird places) who were probably more surprised than anyone to find themselves working on a project like this.

PGS, the production company, gave us creative freedom, and Rémi, that guy was a 🪨.

Working with June Pla on character designs was quite the experience. Navigating brand constraints? Yeah, that was a barrel of laughs. But we made it work. Over three months, I churned out 25 synopses and almost 10 episodes 📚, directing three of them in storyboards and animatics with the talent of Cindy Lartigue (Pure gem).

Of course, in true fashion, the series was ☠️ at the beginning of 2023. But, hey, that’s showbiz! No regrets, though. It was a wild ride filled with talented people and plenty of lessons learned.

PGS? Oh, they’re a top-notch production company that produces quality content for audiences worldwide. And Rémi Guérin? The guy’s got a knack for storytelling. Working with them was like being part of a well-oiled machine with a touch of that flair. 🚀

All in all, working on “Little S****y” was an adventure, and if given the chance, I’d dive into a project like that again. After all, life’s too short not to embrace the quirks and unexpected twists it throws our way. 🍷
